· Chocolate Covered Cherries by Marich - 2.3 oz. - These indulgent gourmet chocolate covered cherries are one of the favorite snacks in our line of Holiday Gift Baskets.
I have to say, I couldn't decide which treat I was most excited about! Of course I went right for the pretzels and raspberry honey mustard dip, which I though was a really creative addition to traditional holiday treats. The dip and pretzels were so addicting, and everyone really enjoyed them. They didn't last too long with all
 of us digging in!
Everyone in our family really loved the chocolate covered cherries as well. I think Chip and Angie felt that they were a really special treat, and it might have been the first time either of them had tried these little delights! They were definitely a crowd pleaser as well. We were a little skeptical about trying the Artichoke and Garlic Cheese Biscuits, but they actually were a nice little snack.
I'm not a huge nut fan, but I made sure to try everything, and I really did enjoy the Buttered Peanut Crunch and the Pecan Cookies. Since the basket did contain a lot of nut-based products, children with allergies probably aren't the best recipients for the basket. That said, there really is a ton of food in this basket, and everyone will be able to easily find something they want to eat and will enjoy.
The Chocolate was so yummy!
Overall, I was very. very pleased with the quality and quantity of the products within this Christmas Gift Basket. Everyone in our family was really excited to open it and happy to partake in the eating!! This basket would also be nice to send to friends and family far away, or even college students who aren't able to come home. Quality is really important for every gift, and little baskets bought at some super-market really can't copare to Gourmet Gift Baskets. If you're looking for something nice to bring to a large family Christmas party, this would be the thing to get!

How punctuation can change the meaning of your text

Why do some people obsess over getting punctuation on their text so precise? And is it different for different age groups? Why do some adults insist on spelling out everything, while others go the opposite route and insist on making up their own abreviations.

The truth is, punctuation on a text affects the whole meaning of the message. Here's a test to prove my point: Say the following outload to yourself and see how your voice change!

See! Punctuation is some important over text, because it actually changes the entire meaning, depending on who you're talking too. With friends, extra exclamation points are always ok, but I would never say "thanks." unless I was angry or frustrated or something.

On the other hand, why do some people add extra letters to words on texts and on facebook? Why does hi become hiii which becomes HAYYYY GURLLL? What is that? They all mean completely different things, though, that is clear. When we are texting or online, we try our best to imitate the exact inflection in our voices by phonetically writing out words the way we want to say them in person. But does that work? Can I spell out my voice inflection, and then will you really read it to yourself the same way I would have said it to you?

When people wrote letters to eachother (I say wrote, but I'm sure some people still do write letters...) they would usually write out everything in proper English, right (write?)? I mean, you'll never find a letter between your grandparents that says hiiii how are you?!?!?! That just wouldn't be normal! But today, seeing that in a text or a facebook message wouldn't be completely out of the ordinary. It's so weird!

Or how about when you're texting someone for the first time. Do you try to use correct punctuation only, or do you add some letters here and there to sound informal? What if you don't know the person very well? Do you only use as few words as possible? Is it less awkward just to get it over with and call the person?

And please, can someone tell me the correct etiquette involving smiley faces?

Such as do you use them? What about a winky face? Usually I like to send backwards smilies if I use them at all, because smart phones automatically turn them into little yellow faces, when all I want to appear is :)

The truth is, texting is still so new to us as a society that I don't think there's general ettiquette yet. It's really between you and the person you text. But head my warning: sending Thanks!! and thanks... are completely different, and one can make you sound like a total B#$%^.

Prelude in Kennebunkport: #2 Christmas Town In America!

Our small beach town of Kennebunkport has an amazing Christmas celebration every year called Prelude, and we really don't need a TV station to tell us how great it is. We already believe. BUT it is nice to know our town was ranked the #2 Christmas town in America by HGTV! Who's number 1? We don't know. WE love our town, our little Kennebunkport.

Kennebunkport's 30th Christmas Prelude kicked off last night in Dock Square when thousands of people gathered for the lighting of the Christmas tree! The tree is 30 feet tall and is decorated with lobster buoys as ornaments. It was lit with all white lights and looked absolutely stunning. Our high school chamber choir caroled beautiful chrsitmas songs, which was a splendid treat.

Don't get me wrong, I love Kennebunkport in the Summer too, but Prelude in Kennebunk is more than special. It's magical. I spent all day in the Port today, caroling with friends, and there was just magic in the air. On a little side note, Prelude is great for the tourism in our small town, and local businesses actually have their busiest days on the first Saturday of Prelude, which was today!

We got to catch little bits and pieces of the hat parade, which has become another Prelude tradition over the years. At first, we just assumed tourists liked to wear weird Christmas hats, but they were all actually for the hat parade. Then we did a little holiday shopping in a local store called Zen, which sells Mexicali-Blues type items and is so much fun! Tonight there was a second tree lighting in lower village, again with the chamer choir caroling, and then a candle lit caroling at the monastery which I opted out of because of the cold. If you ever come to Prelude in Kenneubunkport, bring your mitties!

Below are some pictures of our town around Christmas time!
