The Green Garmento Review and Giveaway

This is the second post in my Dorm Review Series! As I am headed to college this fall, I am taking the summer to review some awesome college dorm room products and I'll be sharing my thoughts with you all! To read more about my review series, please click here or to see my first post in the series, click here.

The Green Garmento
The Green Garmento is an awesome new product for homes and dorms that was recently featured on ABC's Shark Tank. This fabulous product helps to reduce waste and lessen the plastic load heading to landfills and waterways by discouraging the need for plastic garment bags!

Shop reusable dry cleaning bags
As I said in my DormCo review, I'm going to make this review series fun and simple to follow by picking out FIVE awesome things that I loved about each company and product I tried. With a cool eco-friendly product like the Green Garmento, it was totally easy for me to compile a great list!
1. Environmentally Efficient
2. Necessity
3. Quality
4. Usability
5. Creativity
As a college student, it can sometimes be hard to make environmentally conscious choices, due to the price factor. The Green Garmento's affordability makes this piece easy! Every kid in college needs a laundry bag and a hamper, and as a girl heading to college I think it's super important to own a couple garment bags as well. Thus - the Green Garmento is a necessity! This product is reusable, breathable, and water resistant. I think it is a great quality for the price, and for the amount of plastic you will save! I also love the variety of colors offered. One of the coolest features of this product is that it can be used as a garment bag, laundry bag, hamper, or duffle bag. I also think the combination of these uses, along with the green factor, makes the Green Garmento one of the most creative products I've ever reviewed!

I received two Green Garmentos to review, as well as an over-the-door hook for them! I first tested out the product as a garment bag, stuffing it with some bulkier jackets and old dance recital costumes. No matter how bulky or oddly shaped the clothing was, the green garment easily zippered right over everything! I loved the cinch pull at the bottom of the bag, as well as the zippered pocked for smaller items that maybe can't be hung. I could definitely see myself using my Green Garmentos to bring clothing to and from the dry cleaners, as well as to cart my costumes around during performances. I think that performers (actors, singers, dancers) especially would find that the Green Garmento could contribute a lot to costume transport and storage! As far as a laundry bag, I found the Green Garmento worked well, but I had wished for a way to zipper the bottom completely closed, since the cinch string didn't close completely. The bag as a duffel was a little large for me, so I think I'll be sticking with the Green Garmento as my garment bag for college!

The Green Garmento's website is really cool, offering tons of information on what the Green Garmento is and how to use it. You can ever purchase a stand to make the Green Garmento into a hamper! I loved how jam-packed the site was with cool info.

Watch! The Green Garmento on Shark Tank!
Other awesome features of the Green Garmento include:
  • Eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic dry cleaning bags
  • Attractive garment bag
  • Help the dry cleaning industry reduce waste
  • Organize & green your routine

  • AS SEEN ON SHARK TANK! KangerHanger POUCH BAG 6 Colors
The 4-in-1 feature is great for the space-needy college kid!
My Green Garmentos are totally going to come in handy on moving day when I can hang my new clothes in one spot without having to worry that they'll be damaged on the trip! I also know that as a theatre major, owning a couple reusable garment bags will be super important. Fabric garment bags are a must for every college student, and I know you'll love yours as much as I love mine!
And now for the GIVEAWAY!! One lucky reader is going to win a Green Garmento! a Rafflecopter giveaway

    1. Prices

    3. Quality
    4. Style of Products
    5. Ease of Shopping
DormCo's prices are super affordable, and while there are different styles of every product and some are more expensive than others, everything is relatively affordable for the college gal looking to buy lots of stuff. I feel that as a college freshman, I'm so excited to fill up my dorm, so DormCo's variety of products is perfect for me! Based on the reviews I've read and the product I received, I can also tell you that DormCo's products are great quality for the price you pay. DormCo's website is also very nicely built and super easy to browse, making the whole experience a win-win!

Supersoft Twin XL College Sheets Dorm Bedding
The Supersoft Twin XL Bedding Sheets by DormCo are a product that really exemplifies all of the qualities mentioned above. For the price of $18.98, these sheets are the perfect match for your ideal comforter! Since I had already chosen my comforter for college, it was great to be able to pick out sheets to match. I had read in multiple places/blogs that it's smart to buy a quality comforter for a fair price, and then buy sheets separately, so that's what I did! I chose the Lime Green sheets because I though they'd match great! Since everything at DormCo is designed especially for college dorms, I didn't have to worry that my sheets would fit my twin xl dorm bed - I know they'll be just perfect!

Supersoft Twin XL College Sheets Dorm Bedding
As I mentioned, the DormCo website is really awesome. Here's a great video explaining why DormCo's sheets will be the right choice for your dorm!
Other awesome features of the Supersoft Twin XL Bedding Sheets include:
  • Softer than Cotton - Microfiber Twin XL Bed Sheets
  • Exclusive College Ave - Covered in Comfort Twin XL Bedding

I know my DormCo sheets will be the perfect dorm bedding to match the comforter I chose!
These sheets are going to be a great addition to my dorm! I absolutely love the bright green color of the dorm bedding, and the 100% microfiber means that they are SOFTER than 100% cotton! They're guaranteed to fit a twin XL bed, so I can sleep easy this summer knowing I won't have to exchange anything in the fall! The sheets come in 6 really fun colors, and would add a nice POP of color to every girl's (or guy's!) dorm!

The Best Advice I Ever Got - A great read for the college bound!

Hi All! In tonight's post I'd like to share with you a WONDERFUL book I just finished this evening. I bought this book with some of my graduation-gift money after seeing it in a bookstore. I had been browsing for some books that would really open my mind before college, and I had remembered seeing my friend Holland reading this book at the theatre last summer. I read the inside cover and just had to buy it!!
The Best Advice I Ever Got was a fabulous read. I seriously couldn't put it down! It is a compilation of short essays - most are only a page, and many are less than that - of advice by some of the greatest achievers of this generation! I knew many of the advice givers in the book, such as Ellen DeGeneres or Tyra Banks, but I was very interested in hearing advice from some lesser-known activists or college presidents. Since I don't think that you have to be famous by any means to be successful, it was interesting to read the advice of some people who really achieved remarkable things without the fame!!
This book also just got me SO excited for college. I feel like, of any of my friends, I am really one of the most ready to get to a big city and never look back! I can't wait to travel all over the world through Northeastern's Co-op and Dialogue of Civilizations programs, as well as to enrich myself in interesting learning experiences on campus. The advice in this book only solidified my confidence that I am on the right path and have so much in store!
One of the biggest pieces of advice that I took away from this book was to say yes. Many of the contributors reiterated this important tid-bit in their essays. In order to achieve in life, I'm learning that it is important to say yes to any opportunity that comes your way. Through this, you will encounter important life experiences that can lead you along an amazing path you might never have found! Saying yes to smaller opportunities will also bring bigger opportunities your way, which is exactly what a new college freshman like myself wants to be doing!
I can't urge you enough to read this book, especially if you are starting an exciting new chapter of your life like I am! Along with The Secret, this book has inspired me to live my life in a way that I think will give me the most exciting and rewarding life, whether it is in my career and educational life or in my family and relationship life. These two books have been my favorite of the year so far, and I just couldn't be more excited to get to Boston and start getting to work after reading The Best Advice I Ever Got!

Dorm Room Essentials: A DormCo Preview Post!

Happy Thursday! It is finally feeling like summer, and I couldn't be happier! As I mentioned in this post, I'm going to be starting a Dorm Décor Review/Giveaway series, and I'm happy to announce that my first review will be from DormCo!
DormCo is an AWESOME company for first time or returning college students, and I have had so much fun browsing through their website to find fun goodies to talk about in this preview post! Since this is only a preview, I won't be sharing the product I'll be reviewing/giving away, but I will say that I'm super excited about it and you should be too!
A College Shower Room Necessity - Bright Colored Shower Caddy (Available in 4 Colors)
Instead, I'm going to be sharing three products from DormCo that I think every college freshman should think about getting. The first is DormCo's Compartment Shower Caddy. This caddy is exactly what every girl needs for all their bathroom/showering essentials! This adorable caddy comes in four fun colors and is made from recycled plastic - so it's easy on the eyes and on the environment! The compartments are great to separate shampoos, soaps, razors, and other showering essentials. At only $7.98, every girl can afford this for their freshman year!
Closet Complete Set - Pink Dorm room organization
The next product I LOVE from DormCo is their Closet Complete Set in Raspberry Pink! Dorm rooms can be SO SMALL, and every girl needs some essential organization tools to fit all her lovely things into that tiny space! With the closet complete set, you won't have to worry about making multiple trips to stores for different size organizers - it's all right there! I adore the pop of color, and I love that by buying these organizers in a set, you'll be able to save some $$! The set includes a five shelf hanging organizer for extra shelving space, a ten shelf organizer for shoes, and under the bed organizer for larger blankets/sweatshirts and a drawstring laundry bag!!
Delila Wall Art - Peel N Stick
Finally, DormCo offers some awesome products for decorating those drab dorm room walls! Although there are so many cool décor products I adore from DormCo, I really love the Delila Wall Art Pell N Stick! This pretty design is sure to liven up any dorm room with a pop of pretty flowers! I love that it's repositionable, and that it won't hurt the walls of the room! This design incorporates so many colors that it'd be easy to match with bedding, and it is sure to make any dorm room feel more girly and fun!
I hope you enjoyed my DormCo preview post! Stay tuned for my DormCo product review and giveaway, which will be the first official post in my Dorm Décor Review Series!

    Wisdom Teeth are OUTA THERE!

Happy Monday! Although today is a gorgeous beach day here in Kennebunk, I won't be off to the beach today because I had my wisdom teeth out this morning!
Post-surgery: looking a bit off but not feeling too bad!
Although I was seriously very nervous for the surgery, I felt absolutely no pain due to the numbing of my entire mouth, and it felt like it was a very quick surgery due to the anesthesia!
When I woke up from anesthesia, I was fully lucid and didn't experience the "loopiness" many of my friends had after coming out of this surgery. The whole thing was pretty uneventful!
As of right now, the pain still hasn't hit me at all. I feel pretty fine, besides the fact that my mouth and face are still very numb, and I was able to eat a blueberry pomegranate smoothie (with a spoon!) when I got home. It was quite the experience.
    No pain yet!
Have any of you had wisdom teeth surgery? Feel free to share your stories in the comments below, I'd love to hear what you experience was like!

Oriental Trading Company Craft and Party Supplier Review!

Hi all and Happy Father's Day! A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to receive a large box of craft good from Oriental Trading Company in the mail, and today I'm so happy to be able to share my thoughts on their wonderful company with you! Among the craft sets were some wonderful Mother's and Father's Day crafts that made days like today extra fun and special for our family!

The Mother's Day cards we were able to create for Mom!
Oriental Trading Company is the nation's largest direct merchant of value–priced party supplies, arts and crafts, toys and novelties, and a leading provider of school supplies and affordable home décor and giftware. OTC has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Internet Retailers and one of the Top 50 Catalog Companies. You may be familiar with many of their products from your child's classroom or your own; their products are showcased in schools all over the U.S.!
I recognized the company from having seen their things in teacher's classrooms growing up, but had no idea that Oriental Trading Company sold so many other great products! From a quick browse on their website, I saw that OTC sells frames and photo supplies, party supplies and gifts for every occasion, graduation garb, and tons of do-it-yourself crafts for hours of fun!
    Dad's Father's Day bag - Me :)
Upon receiving the box of goodies, Angie and I were so excited to peek inside. The first thing we pulled out were blank cards, blank gift bags, and some awesome Mom and Dad themed foam stickers!! This was the beginning of our venture into the land of Mother's and Father's day crafts for that day, and we had a blast decorating cards and bags for Mom and Dad! The stickers are super cute and there was SUCH A VARIETY, it was awesome! I loved that not all the stickers said the words "Mom" or "Dad" on them, so they could be used for decorating birthday cards for friends or other types of crafts as well!
    Our Father's Day Gift Bags!
Since receiving the box of crafts, I've used the blank cards and bags for other purposes as well, such as end-of-the-year thank you notes for teachers! I loved added a couple foam flower stickers to the outside of the envelope for a special treat!

These are the multi-purpose notecards we received!

After decorating our cards and gift bags, it was on to the crafts for Angie and I! We were lucky enough to receive two Mother's Day and two Father's Day crafts, and had so much fun creating them! The final products of our Oriental Trading Company crafts looked really well done, yet they had been so easy to create, and that is what I love about this company! The directions were very easy to follow, and every craft bag included extra pieces which was a great add-on in case we made a mistake or lost a piece. It was good to have a glue-gun on hand, which wasn't required for some of the crafts but was something Angie and I found to be helpful. Here are some pictures of the super cool crafts we made!!

We created these cool magnet shirt frames for Dad!
Mom loved her recipe card holders!

I love the availability of personalization with the crafts from Oriental Trading Company. Even though Angie and I were making crafts from the same kit, both of our creations came out looking uniquely our own, and were both special for our mom and dad! The Mother's Day cards allowed us to include our pictures and handprints, and the Father's Day crafts let us add a picture as well! This was a really nice touch, and definitely made the gifts more special for our parents. Way to Go Oriental Trading Company!!

OTC creates some great personalized crafts, such as this Mother's Day card!

All of the crafts came in sets of 12, which would have been great for teachers or moms who are buying crafts sets for a birthday party activity (which is something I HIGHLY recommend!) However, since Angie and I only made one each of every style of craft, we were able to donate the rest to an after school program at Angie's school. The teachers sent us a lovely thank you note letting us know the children had LOVED the crafts from Oriental Trading Company, and were so excited to give them to their parents!

The last thing we received from Oriental Trading Company was a pad of craft paper. This paper is so fun and includes many, many spring designs! We discovered that as well as being great craft paper, this paper makes fun and eco-friendly wrapping paper for gifts! How fun to have around!!

I would definitely recommend Oriental Trading Company as an AMAZING company with such a variety of crafts for children and party supplies for adults! I wish my mom had known about this company when I was younger, because they sell everything a family would want for a great themed birthday party. Teachers and Summer Camps can find a variety of crafts to keep children entertained that will not only keep them busy but give them something nice to take home as well! In addition, here are some great products I found on Oriental Trading Company that I personally would love to have for my dorm room this year:
Dorm DIY-ing is all the rage with college girls right now, and I know my friends and I would have a ton of fun making some great dorm accessories from the variety of jars and scrapbooking paper sold at Oriental Trading Company! Additionally, OTC has many great stationary products for college dorm rooms, such as these adorable Sandal Notepads!!
Want to stay connected with OTC?? Sign up for exclusive email updates and promotions here:
    Highly encouraged for teachers!!

A sailboat ride through Camden harbor for Father's Day!

Today we took a beautiful sailboat ride for Father's Day. We drove two hours north to Camden, Maine, an absolutely gorgeous seaside town which is very similar to Kennebunk. From there we left for a beautiful two hour ride out past some coastal island and lighthouses! It was so much fun and I would definitely recommend it for a day trip if you're from the area!

Angie takes a turn driving the boat!

    Makeover, About Me, and REVAMP!!

    Hi everyone!
Well, it's the summer before I head to college. For me, this means I am reflecting on myself, my belongings, my future, and putting everything into perspective. And what better way to add to the fun of giving myself a little revamp than to revamp my blog a bit as well!?!
    First, Who am I?
I've never really done an "about me" post on this blog, because I always tried to hide the fact that I was in high school. Most of the reviewers on the web are "Mommy bloggers," and I thought it would be easier to get products to review if I was a mommy blogger too! For the last two years, I've owned and operated this blog, but I've been reviewing products as if I was a "Mommy blogger," instead of a teenager trying to save some money! SOOOO Let's get down to who I am!
My name is Cassie Moreno. I'm 17 years old, and I live in Kennebunkport Maine, which is a beautiful town on the coast of southern Maine. I've lived here all my life, and there's no place I'd rather be than at one of our beautiful beach taking in some rays :) I love theatre and plan to major in it in college at Northeastern this fall. I can't wait to move to Boston, it's literally all I think about! I have a little sister, Angie, who's 7 and has been featured in many of my review posts. I also have a 14 year old brother, Chip. Besides theatre and the beach, I love music, DIY crafts, cooking, good books, and laughter! I'm so excited to finally be sharing myself on my blog!
Second, why and how did I get into this crazy blogging world?
When I was in 8th grade, I really wanted to win the giveaways in Seventeen magazine, but there was no chance of me winning as they are so popular for young girls to enter! After figuring this out, I started entering sweepstakes online, and eventually became very familiar with blogging giveaways and online sweepstakes. I found that Prizey was so convenient, and I started to win $1000s of dollars a year in giveaways. It was awesome! In 2011, I started this blog to gain extra entries to giveaways, provide product reviews so that I could get free products, and host my own giveaways to give back to a world that had given me so much!
Third, what's my plan for my revamped blog?!?
As I said, I'm headed to Northeastern in the fall. This is a huge change for me, and while I couldn't be happier, I understand that college life and Boston are wicked expensive! As such, I want to revamp my blog so that it is totally "me" and get back in to reviewing and blogging so that I can try out some cool products for free and save some money! My goal is to review some awesome dorm products, and maybe host some dorm themed giveaways!
    Why am I different?
As I said, in my blogging giveaway travels I've mostly encountered Mommy bloggers. While these women are wonderful and inspirational, truly, with their blogging empires, I've found that there are barely any college girls doing reviews! This is crazy, because reviewing is such a great way to save money! This is going to be my niche, and I hope to really build on it over the coming months!!
So, there you have it. I'm not a mommy blogger or reviewer. But I AM an excited college freshman, ready to share my opinions with the world and get back into reviewing!!
    Sincerely, Cassie

Lunaling Capri Review: Wear these comfortable workout capris and watch the inches melt away!

As someone who is pretty active, I love trying out new workout wear whenever I get the chance. In fact, whether it's a new sports bra or pair of sweats, I get an extra motivation to workout when I have something exciting and new to wear! Well, that has definitely been my experience with the Lunaling Capri workout capris I received to review. These capris are super comfy, and knowing that their special technology is helping me to lose inches has given me great motivation!!
    Image 1
    How it works:
The following is a product description from the Lunaling website. Check it out to learn all about the cool technology behind these capris!!
Get smoother, softer skin and lose weight in style with Lunaling Capri. They feel cosy and sleek, hugging you gently from tummy to calves.
Using technology proven to help you lose weight during exercise, Lunaling helps you get the body you want. Suitable for any exercise (or just for wearing around the house), the Capris use your natural body temperature to increase the heat around the areas you care about most (legs, thighs, bum and tum).
In fabric tests, women wearing Lunaling lost weight 4x faster in 30 minutes than they did doing the same exercise with normal gym clothes!
    Image 1
    And now for my review:
Let me start by saying that I LOVE these capris! They are sleek black and are very comfortable to wear, even if you're just lounging around the house. I found myself throwing them on at night or just to do some light housework, because their technology works to increase your body heat even when you aren't doing intense excercising!
I feel very confident wearing these capris. They are very form fitting, and go from my mid-shin to my belly button, so they are a little more high-waisted than my regular workout capris. The material feels a little like wetsuit material, so that was another immediate difference to my normal workout wear that I noticed. Although the material is clearly thicker, this in no way takes away from the capris. The material is super comfortable and is not itchy, nor does it leave a rash or residue on my skin. It was clear to me from the moment I put these capris on that they were very well made!
    Image 1
I have been wearing these capris to my weekly dance classes and workout classes for about two weeks now. I absolutely love them! My skin feels soft and smooth when I take them off, and I know they're working because I can feel that my target areas get hotter during workouts! Friends have commented on my Lunaling capris and asked where I got them. I would definitely recommend these for both women who love the gym or dance classes, and those looking for some new capris to jog or walk in!!
I received these in a size small, and I would say they are very true to size. Remember though that these are high-wasted, so if you prefer to wear them as capris that only go up to your hips it might be good to purchase a size-smaller than you normally do. Either way, you won't be dissapointed!
    Image 1
Lunaling has a whole line of wonderful products that I would definitely recommend you give a look to. Lunaling shorts would be great for a summer workout or dance class, and since these are also high wasted you can continue to target certain areas of your body without dying from over-heating in the summer!
    Image 1
This picture, provided by the Lunaling website, it very cool and is pretty compelling as to why Lunaling is so trusted by women all over the world! You can see from the picture that on average, women lose weight 4x easier with Lunaling workout wear than they do when using normal workout clothes!
    how it works
Buy it! To purchase Lunaling, you can visit the Lunaling website here: This workout wear is great to kick yourself into high gear this spring and summer, and would also make a great gift for a workout-loving friend or loved one! College girls will love wearing Lunaling to the gym with friends, and moms can wear Lunaling to get their daily activities done. No matter where you decide to wear these cool capris, rest easy knowing that the inches will just melt off!!
