The Green Garmento Review and Giveaway

This is the second post in my Dorm Review Series! As I am headed to college this fall, I am taking the summer to review some awesome college dorm room products and I'll be sharing my thoughts with you all! To read more about my review series, please click here or to see my first post in the series, click here.

The Green Garmento

The Green Garmento is an awesome new product for homes and dorms that was recently featured on ABC's Shark Tank. This fabulous product helps to reduce waste and lessen the plastic load heading to landfills and waterways by discouraging the need for plastic garment bags!

As I said in my DormCo review, I'm going to make this review series fun and simple to follow by picking out FIVE awesome things that I loved about each company and product I tried. With a cool eco-friendly product like the Green Garmento, it was totally easy for me to compile a great list!

1. Environmentally Efficient
2. Necessity
3. Quality
4. Usability
5. Creativity

As a college student, it can sometimes be hard to make environmentally conscious choices, due to the price factor. The Green Garmento's affordability makes this piece easy! Every kid in college needs a laundry bag and a hamper, and as a girl heading to college I think it's super important to own a couple garment bags as well. Thus - the Green Garmento is a necessity! This product is reusable, breathable, and water resistant. I think it is a great quality for the price, and for the amount of plastic you will save! I also love the variety of colors offered. One of the coolest features of this product is that it can be used as a garment bag, laundry bag, hamper, or duffle bag. I also think the combination of these uses, along with the green factor, makes the Green Garmento one of the most creative products I've ever reviewed!

I received two Green Garmentos to review, as well as an over-the-door hook for them! I first tested out the product as a garment bag, stuffing it with some bulkier jackets and old dance recital costumes. No matter how bulky or oddly shaped the clothing was, the green garment easily zippered right over everything! I loved the cinch pull at the bottom of the bag, as well as the zippered pocked for smaller items that maybe can't be hung. I could definitely see myself using my Green Garmentos to bring clothing to and from the dry cleaners, as well as to cart my costumes around during performances. I think that performers (actors, singers, dancers) especially would find that the Green Garmento could contribute a lot to costume transport and storage! As far as a laundry bag, I found the Green Garmento worked well, but I had wished for a way to zipper the bottom completely closed, since the cinch string didn't close completely. The bag as a duffel was a little large for me, so I think I'll be sticking with the Green Garmento as my garment bag for college!

The Green Garmento's website is really cool, offering tons of information on what the Green Garmento is and how to use it. You can ever purchase a stand to make the Green Garmento into a hamper! I loved how jam-packed the site was with cool info.

I also know that as a theatre major, owning a couple reusable garment bags will be super important. Fabric garment bags are a must for every college student, and I know you'll love yours as much as I love mine!

    10. I learned that currently their products are produced in China by facilities that undergo social accountability audits. The audits look at both labor and health and safety areas and are available for review by their staff. They work to stay informed about these practices and to ensure fair treatment of workers. In addition, they are actively looking for US production resources and would welcome suggestions.

    14. However, my FAVORITE gift for college-bound younger siblings (3 down, 2 left to go) has quickly become the following: a cute & handy hamper, laundry detergent, stain remover pen, bleach, dryer sheets, a roll of quarters, and of course, a card and cash. Maybe I should look into an eco-friendly bag such as this one for the next sibling who graduates this year! :)
